Its core, MilkyPlay, has been in development since the mid-90s, originally as a Digitrakker. MilkyTracker is not based on any existing module replay engine. ![]() Windows Mobile: MilkyTracker can be run on Windows Mobile smartphones, PDAs, Pocket PC and a VDO Dayton car navigation system running Windows CE 4.2.Amiga: A port of MilkyTracker exists for AmigaOS, MorphOS and AROS.Unix-like: MilkyTracker is available for Linux, Android, macOS, OpenBSD, and FreeBSD.Microsoft Windows: MilkyTracker runs on Windows 9x, Me, NT, Windows 200x, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11.MilkyTracker supports several operating systems and hardware platforms. However it is a bit more difficult to find sufficient conversation on what the most digital sounding softsynths are.īecause of this I'm wondering what do people think is the most digital sounding softsynth out there? From what I tried I think that both Razor and Serum both a very clean, digital sound (both are usually heralded as sounding fantastic as well).Module composition or "tracking" is done through the control of multichannel sample playback. Googling 'analog sounding softsynth' will lead you to countless message board topics full of praise for the likes of DIVA and Monark. And while analog gets percevied as being warm and organic (desirable), digital is seen as cold and harsh (undesirable).Īnd while analog emulation in the software realm is incredibly popular, I personally am more enamoured with instruments that are overtly digital in nature. However as softsynths have attempted to emulate traditional hardware (analog) synths for so long, certain analog characteristics (warmth, fulness, slight oscillator drift, etc.) have almost become synonyms for the only good characteristics that should be desired in a softsynth. When dealing with any software (or hardware) synth the definition of sound quality is subjective.
